Chance to see a train clash.
Jimmy applied for a job of signalman on the railways. He meets the inspector at the signal box. The interview begins and the inspector puts this question to him:
Inspector: “if you realized that two trains were heading for each other on the same track, what would you do?”
Jimmy: “Well, I would soon switch the points for any one of the trains.”
Inspector: “What if by any means the lever broke?”
Jimmy: “Then I’d rush out and use the manual lever.”
Inspector: “What if that had been damaged by lightning?”
Jimmy: “Then, I’d rush back into the signal box and contact the other signal box.”
Inspector: “What if the phone was busy and you cannot contact?”
Jimmy: “Well in that case, I’d use the public emergency phone at the level crossing up down there.”
Inspector: “And if that was damaged too?”
Jimmy: “Oh well then I’d run into the village to bring my uncle Beans.”
The inspector, totally puzzled, asks, “Why?”
Jimmy: “Because he always wished to see a train crash.”
